Heritage Week – Diglis Island Open Day

Friday 15th September

10.00 am – 2.00 pm

No need to book.

As part of heritage Week, we are opening up Diglis Island.   Step onto this secret island in the Severn to explore the renovated Victorian lock gate workshop.   Learn about the island’s history and discover the role it plays today in the conservation of rare fish in the river!     You will also have a chance to get close to the historic crane during its renovations.

Diglis Island Guides will be on hand to tell you about the history of the island or you are welcome to take a self-guided tour.

This is a drop-in event. No ticket required however, due to limited capacity on the island, visitors may experience a short wait to enter the island.

Island closes at 2:00 pm. Last admission 1:30 pm.

*Please note this open day is for the island only*

Accessibility: Diglis Island is accessed via ramps onto two narrow lock walkways. These are suitable for some wheelchairs and pushchairs, although may not be accessible for larger vehicles (such as mobility scooters). A narrow wheelchair will be available to anybody who wishes to use this to cross the lock gates. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to discuss your accessibility needs. Accessible toilets are available for visitor use

Facilities

There are toilet facilities on Diglis Island.

Well behaved dogs on a lead are allowed on the island.
