Volunteers cutting back brush

There is a new opportunity to support the Unlocking the Severn project by becoming part of the Severn Conservation Taskforce.

The Severn Conservation Taskforce will be a mobile group of volunteers that work on various sites throughout the Unlocking the Severn project area. This includes locations in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Shropshire. Tasks will be varied but will include activities such as tree planting, planting on project construction sites, leaky dam construction and invasive species removal. The team will also be tasked with carrying out winter works on lock islands on the River Severn at Lincomb and Holt. These winter works will include vegetation clearance, managing hedges and pruning orchards.

There will be one taster session per area, details of which can be found on our events page HERE

Following these taster sessions, regular sessions will run on a fortnightly basis on Tuesdays, with the first full session on October 27th. We will try to ensure there is an even spread of volunteer days throughout the project areas so that there is less travel involved for volunteers. Some travel expenses will be reimbursable.

As well as getting to meet new people, this volunteering opportunity offers fresh air, exercise and the chance to enjoy some of our beautiful waterways and the wildlife that lives there. You may also discover some areas of the River Severn that are new to you! You will have the opportunity to learn skills and be an invaluable member of the Unlocking the Severn volunteering team.
