Shad Counting – Family Volunteering
We’re inviting families to join us at the riverbank for a fun fish counting activity
Our project is reconnecting the rare fish called the twaite shad to 158 miles of historic spawning grounds on the rivers Severn and Teme. A vital part of our project is monitoring migration numbers by recruiting Citizen Scientists to help us record their movements. We will be holding seven 45-minute interactive shad counting sessions for families from 10am until 3:30pm.
Families of up to five members are welcome to attend. It’s a fun activity for children, but also it provides our scientists with important data to help them estimate shad migration movements and numbers.
As well as receiving guidance on how to participate, your family will conduct a shad counting survey with assistance from one of our staff. Because of coronavirus restrictions we are limiting one family to book on to each 45-minute slot.
Please follow the link to Eventbrite where you will be able to book on to this exciting activity. We look forward to seeing you at the riverbank!
