Upper Lode Weir, Tewkesbury
Saturday 16th May @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Marathon Shad Count
Join us to spot shad migrating over Upper Lode Weir and collect data to help us understand more about this rare and endangered fish.
Every May, shad migrate from the sea up the River Severn to reach their spawning grounds. Come along to get a glimpse of them as they pass through Tewkesbury.
Our experts will be on hand to provide monitoring training and help you spot any fish migrating upriver. The data you collect will contribute towards our scientific studies- helping us to estimate the number of shad migrating and better understand their migration behaviour.
No previous skills or experience is required. This event is free and suitable for families. Please note that whilst we hope to see shad in the river, as with all wildlife encounters, sightings are not guaranteed!
